Family First Credit Union respects the privacy of its members and is committed to protecting personal member data to the highest level of confidentiality. Under federal law, we are required to provide this notice, describing our Credit Union's practices concerning the personal information we collect and disclose about our members. We have also included information about the parties who receive personal and sometimes non-public information from us as we conduct the business of the Credit Union. We collect personal information about you from several sources including:
- Applications and other Credit Union forms
- FFCU computer records (histories of transactions, etc.)
- Consumer Reporting Agencies
- Current or past employers
- Other financial institutions
We may disclose all information as described above, or as permitted by law.
What may be shared to conduct Credit Union operations:
In order to best serve all of the members of the Credit Union and to appropriately conduct daily operations, account information may be exchanged with credit bureaus, affiliated service providers, and similar organizations at the request of, or on the behalf of, individual members. These credit bureaus, affiliated service providers, and organizations are required to follow strict confidentiality requirements as a precursor to the Credit Union providing their products. The Credit Union will only provide third-party products designed to enhance our members' economic well-being. Under no circumstances will the Credit Union ever authorize these providers to charge member accounts without express written consent.
Parties who receive information from us:
Except as required by law or as herein described, we do not share information with other parties, including government agencies. In order to best serve all of our members and conduct the operations of our Credit Union, however, personal information may be exchanged with credit bureaus, affiliated service providers, and similar organizations at the request, or on behalf, of individual members. Further, FFCU will provide account and personal information to authorities when legally required in connection with fraud or terrorist investigations. FFCU is bound to recognize subpoenas and similar legal processes from the Michigan and Federal courts demanding release of any information about our members. In such instances we are frequently prohibited from revealing such release to those members.
Information Disclosure regarding former members:
Even if you have terminated your membership with Family First Credit Union, we will not share account information, except as listed above.
There are several venues within the Credit Union where member information and privacy are further protected. Security measures provided to protect member information at each on these venues is listed as follows:
The Credit Union protects all personal information with strong security controls to ensure member protection. Where appropriate, the Credit Union utilizes security coding to protect against unauthorized access to personal records by employees or outsiders, ensures accuracy and integrity of communications and transactions between staff, and protects member confidentiality from unauthorized parties. These security codes are reviewed and updated several times per year in order to ensure their timeliness.
The Credit Union does not collect personal identifying information pertaining to visitors to the Credit Union's web site address - www.fam1st.com. Individual visitor to, and users of, www.fam1st.com remain anonymous to the Credit Union. The web server collects only general non-identifying information about visitors to the web site, such as date and time visited, IP address, resources accessed, and user errors encountered. This information is utilized to compile standard statistics regarding web site usage.
It is also important to note that www.fam1st.com is located on a separate and isolated system from our data processing system or from the online account access system. This ensures that all member information is secure and protected from web-based attacks because the networks are simply not connected.
Links to Other Web Sites
When a member chooses to email the Credit Union, the member's email address and any other information contained in the email or email header will be revealed. The Credit Union will utilize this information only to respond to individual comments or questions. Email addresses that are revealed to www.fam1st.com for the purposes of requesting a newsletter, requesting promotional or Credit Union news, or participating in marketing surveys will be stored by the Credit Union and may be utilized for internal marketing and corporate communication. However, these lists will not be shared or sold.
What members can do to ensure their privacy:
Follow these guidelines to help protect your privacy:
- Protect account numbers, card numbers, Personal Identification Numbers (PIN), and passwords
- Never Store PINs with the corresponding card
- Use caution when disclosing your account number, Social Security number, etc. to others
- Keep your account information current. If your address or phone number changes, please let us know. It is important that we have current information on how to reach you. If we detect potentially fraudulent or unauthorized activity, we will attempt to contact you immediately.
